Competition rules

Any high or elementary school student able to communicate in czech, slovak or english is allowed to participate in Mathematical correspondence seminar. PraSe is an individual competition. No kind of cooperation is allowed.

How to submit solutions

There are two ways you can submit your solutions. Either you register and use our online system to submit the solutions electronically or you send your solutions to us by regular mail. The registration in the online system may take up to few days but then it is faster and more reliable.

If you want to send your solutions by regular mail, write your solution of each problem on an individual piece of paper of size A4. On each piece of paper write your name, number of the series, problem number and page number if your solution does not fit on one sheet.

Then send them to following address:

Korespondenční seminář, KAM MFF UK, Malostranské náměstí 25, 118 00 Praha 1, Czech Republic

If you are solving for the first time, also send us your address, name of school and the year when you will finish high school.

Do not forget to send your solutions on time. Each series has a deadline and if you miss it your solutions will be accepted but without any points. If you prefer to send solutions by our submit system, it suffices to submit them till midnight of the deadline. For solutions sent by mail, the date of post office stamp is decisive.

If you have some serious reason why you did not send the series on time, send us an e-mail (on mks (at) mff.cuni.cz). There is a chance that we will accept the solutions as sent on time anyway.

Autumn and spring part

There are two parts of the seminar every year. The most successful participants of these parts are invited to attend the PraSe maths camp.

Current ranks of our solvers can be found at page results.

Series of problems

There are eight series each year – four in the autumn part and four in the spring part. Each series is focused on one topic.

Except for this there is also the so called Serial series, which goes deeper into some specific topic. The Serial series consists of three parts.

Current list of series and deadlines can be found at page current year.

Points

Except for "real" points, you may get also "imaginary points" for original or very nice and elegant solutions.

We use a complicated method to recalculate your points based on your age and the sum of points you have already obtained in PraSe.
